I had unusual travel plans for my recent business trip to Annapolis. First I flew to BWI on Southwest (which curiously didn’t have all of their new line arrangements yet in place). I rented a car for the Annapolis leg of the trip. When I got done with work today, I returned the car to the Baltimore airport (via the Baltimore-Washington Parkinglotway), where I planned to catch a train south to Fredericksburg.

In Annapolis
I’m in Annapolis today and tomorrow. Tomorrow evening I meet Kelly and the kids in Fredericksburg and we all head west to Warrenton for the night.
Saturday is my high school reunion. The Herndon High School Class of 1987 holds its 20 year reunion in Reston, Virginia. I hope to catch up with my old friends. Should be fun.
Back from Ohio Linux Fest
I made it back from the Ohio Linux Fest about 4:45 this afternoon after driving from Ohio and dropping off my passengers, Bill Mars and his son, Jim. Bill and I had a lively discussion about a number of geek-related and Navy vet-related topics which made the 9+ hour drive go much faster than it otherwise would’ve.

Long Farking Day
I’m back at the hotel after a very long day at the Ohio Linux Fest. It’s a small trade show, if you could call it a trade show, but I swear I’ve never worked harder at a trade show in my life. I was passing out T-shirts and hats so fast that hours had gone by before I could even get the demo up and running. I was so beat when the show was over that I didn’t dare nap more than 20 minutes or I knew I would be out for 10 hours.

Hello, Columbus!
“Hello, Columbus!” was how Guns and Roses bassist Duff welcomed the crowd when the Monsters of Rock tour visited Columbia, SC in August 1992. He will forever be linked with Columbus in my mind.
We made it to Columbus this evening around 7 PM after 500 miles of driving. The drive went pretty smoothly. The original plan was for everyone to ride in one 12 passenger van but the turnout was so overwhelming that I had to take people in my minivan.
The show is tomorrow. Should be fun. Look for updates as the show goes on. And check the Software Freedom Road Rally page for other updates.
Hacking week
Its been a week of hacking at MT.Net, and I’m not talking about the geek kind. A cold hit the household with ferocity last Friday, beginning with a wicked scratchy throat. This was followed by full-blown cold symptoms, including grogginess and fatigue. Somehow I manged to drive to and from Maryland through it all, though I’m not sure how.

Back in NC
I drive my cARRR back from Maryland yesterday afternoon and had a surprisingly smooth trip. Driving really can beat taking a plane if the timing is right.
Good to be back in Cackalacky.
Arrrrr!
Nothing like being in Annapolis on International Talk Like A Pirate Day. Arrrrrr!
Tooth geek
Wow. Its 10 PM and I actually just spent two bucks in the hotel store on dental floss. Never thought I’d ever become this obsessed with my teeth!
To the Annapolismobile, Robin!
I’m heading north in the morning to the company’s home base in Annapolis. Gonna meet some customers, do some support, and wreak havoc with the status quo for a few days. Things start off with a bang with a lunchtime call at the infamous Rams Head Brewery. I’ll be returning there after work for some tasty pints of their IPAs.
Yeah, I could fly there but why spend four hours going car-airport-plane-airport-car-work when I can just go car-I85-I95-work? Air travel being what it is these days, I can get there in the same amount of time and keep my dignity. Easy call to make, yo.
