Chicago

Sears Tower in Chicago, ILI’m in Chicago now until Wednesday conducting training. The train ride was smooth and relaxing and I managed to take the bus to the hotel. Checked in early and relaxed some more.

My goal in the next few days is to not set foot inside an automobile. So far, so good.

My baby says she’s trav’ling on the one after nine-o-nine
I said move over honey I’m traveling on that line
I said move over once, move over twice
Come on baby don’t be cold as ice

Gone to Chicago, sorry but I can’t take you

I’m off to Chicago now for two days of training sessions. I’m looking forward to riding the rails into Chicago, the Mecca of train cities. I will also ride the rails to get around town as well as to the airport for the flight home.

While I can plug in my laptop and chat on my cellphone on the way, I won’t have Internet access. Blog atcha later.

Wheels up

Good news from Kelly this morning: they got on the morning flight to Raleigh! By the time I post this they should be “wheels up” and on their way home. Kelly said the kids got to meet the pilots and make the “welcome aboard” announcement, too.

Good to know their travel adventures will soon end. I suppose I can cut Northwest some slack after all.

Carlin: he was funnier than you

I just found out that comedian George Carlin died of a heart attack yesterday. What a shame. He was an incredibly clever, funny guy who could cut through all the BS in the world. Its not often you get comedy that makes you think but Carlin did that. I’m kicking myself for not going to see him the last time he played Raleigh.

In light of the family’s airline debacle, take a look at a Carlin routine that was appeared on my blog a year ago when Carlin takes apart airline announcements. Its masterful, hilarious, and like a lot of Carlin routines, not exactly safe for work.

I bet he’s already got a great routine on dying.
