Trying To Score Some Good Buds

After fifteen years of trusty service, my AIWA earbuds are being retired. They’ve served me well, providing the best sound quality I’ve heard for earbuds. The AIWAs excel at the lower frequencies, which is a problem for for earbuds. As a result, most music sounds tinny and dull in ordinary ‘buds.

So, what else is out there? Does anyone have good things to say about their brand of earbuds? I’m looking for good sound quality without the bulkiness of real headphones. Share your experience, brother!

UPDATE: A CNET review of earbuds.

With Friends Like These

This week, the State Employees Association of North Carolina endorsed Patrick Ballentine for governor, the first time ever the organization has endorsed a Republican candidate. This is obviously a major boost to Ballentine and a major slap in the face to Mike Easley, our state’s invisible governor. I wonder if Easley is now wishing he had shown his face at all those public functions he skipped.

Wonder how Ballentine will govern? At least he might show up.

Feeling Better

I’m feeling better than yesterday, though not 100% yet. I had no real fever today and my appetite picked up again. Most welcome. I actually got some sleep last night, which did the most good, I think.

Kelly’s still battling, too. And Hallie is showing continuing signs, though her attitude (as always) is superb. We’re still not sending her to preschool Thursday unless she’s 100%, though.

Having both parents sick at the same time is challenging, to say the least. I’m proud of how Kelly has held up, and have done my part to make sure she’s comfortable. Once again, the biggest medicine will be sleep, coming shortly.

Gaston

I recorded over two and a half inches of rain yesterday as a result of Tropical Storm Gaston. Pretty impressive amount. Now let’s see if Frances behaves herself.

One Last Thing

One last thing before I turn in. Can somebody tell me why I’m not a kewl kid if I don’t have a Gmail account?

More Ugh

My brain is frying, both literally and figuratively. Fever of 101.4 degrees. The shorts and short-sleeved shirt gave way to warmup pants and flannel. Dinner was soup. Quite tasty, considering. And I’ve been in the habit today of staring into space and enjoying it.

Nevertheless, my body seems to be on the mend. I predict a restful night of sleep, much needed since the last good night I had was three nights ago.

Also, Hallie has picked it up. We were wrong about her having it first. That means no preschool for her on Thursday. Bummer.

I’m gonna crawl into bed and see if my world will be righted in the morning.

On The Bright Side

I don’t have to worry about gaining weight from vacation overeating…

Ugh

A restless night. Kelly and I have been laid low by some kind of stomach bug. Probably the same one that affected Hallie and my dad earlier this week. The good news is they rebounded rather quickly. The bad news is we haven’t gotten there yet. 🙁

Breakfast was a couple of bites of oatmeal and some yogurt. Lunch (if there is one) will be similarly spartan. Whee.

Beach Souvenir

We made it back from the beach (not that we really wanted to) around 3PM. Some unpacking has been done, but we’re mostly chilling. Man, that’s a long trip.

Kelly hasn’t been feeling well at all since last night and I’m not too stable, either. I’ve got intermittent chills, too, which makes me think fever.

Actually, I think I’m subconsciously digging my heels at the thought of going back to work. Unfortunately for me, there are no sick days in my current business plan. Crum.
