MT.Net Now On WordPress

For the past day or so I’ve turned my copious spare time towards moving my blog to WordPress from Drupal. Fortunately, there are plenty of good SQL scripts to move tables from one to another. Unfortunately, most scripts were designed for blogs with few posts to migrate. Thus there were precious few examples of Apache Rewrite rules to point old Drupal links to their WordPress equivalent. Most of the transfer time involved figuring out the proper Rewrite-Fu to make the switch as painless as possible.

I’ll explain all the geek details in another post. Time for dinner!

  1. Mark! I’ve been so wanting to post; but, my computer was on summer vacation. Dell replaced the motherboard, cpu, and the screen hinges. I’ve been one lost old geek.

In regard to keyboards, my first post IBM job was with the guy who ran “special projects” for old T.J. Watson. He had a model of the “key” that IBM used in all their keyboards to give them a nice satisfying “click” when you depressed them. Us old guys really like for things to emote when we thump them!

I love it that you guys were able to use the lake house and enjoy sailing out there. If you really want to to fly a spinaker, you’ll need some extra stuff: a spinaker pole, pole topping lift, pole down haul, spinaker halyard (separate from your jib halyard), and blocks at the back corners of the boat to run spinaker sheets as well as lines for the sheets. A friend once referred to the spinaker as a tool of the devil… I would love to assist you in your pursuit of evil; but, a pole alone could along with an eye could be used to hold the jib out so you can go “wing and wing”. We’ll talk, do lunch, drink beer. Have great fun going down hill…

I think I like the look of this CMS better than drupal; but, how about picture albums?

As for the job search, I think the Qimonda people have IT support functions in Cary. I’ll make some inquiries tomorrow. (You probably have better contacts; but, I’ll give it a try.)
