Tightening the belt

I took my watch to the mall’s watch store Friday to get the battery changed. As I was walking away, I thought to ask if the watch person could remove a link from my watch band. Now my watch band is more snug than its ever been, and that’s because I’ve lost weight.

I’ve also returned to wearing slacks I haven’t warn in more than ten years. All but one of my belts are secured at their skinniest notches.

Through an easy and gradual combination of simple diet changes and more regular cardio exercise, I’ve managed to cut a lot of the fat I’ve been carrying around. I’ve been running almost every weekend in addition to my daily walks. As for diet, I’ve been steering clear of processed carbohydrates like bread products, beer (mostly), and processed sugar and eating more meat and veggies. It wasn’t an overnight change but one that is now bearing fruit. Oh, and I’ve been eating lots of fruit, too, now that I mention it.

I hope to keep up these changes through the winter so that I can continue to feel great and be in great shape, too.
