RCAC recognition

We were having what seemed like a typical RCAC meeting tonight, with a few long-winded discussions about neighborhood events and Raleigh’s UDO. We were already running past our usual adjournment time when Dwayne Patterson of Community Services made a wonderful comment.

Dwayne said that he’s been at the RCAC table for a number of years and that he’s impressed with the level of participation we’ve been having. In years past, he said, the RCAC had some meetings when we couldn’t even muster a quorum. He called it amazing to see over 20 CAC chairs actively participating.

It was music to my ears, of course, and while I am proud of the way things are going I know it’s ultimately a team effort. We have so many positive-thinking, can-do citizens leading our CACs right now. Their energy is what has reinvigorated the RCAC. It’s not anything I’ve done.

I can’t tell you what a pleasure it is to be leading a motivated group of fellow leaders, all of them fine citizens. I forsee a very bright future for our citizens advisory councils!
