Rain: just what the doctor ordered

I got myself into a funk last week about the drought. I was thinking ahead to June or July when our Falls Lake water allocation is projected to run out and wondering how I’d feel and what I’d do when that finally happened. I was missing the good, soaking rains I was used to seeing. Where did they go?

Imagine my relief to hear sheets upon sheets of rain falling tonight: the good, steady rain I’d been missing so! I stood on the front porch, transfixed at the dancing raindrops. It was so beautiful!

The water miser in me was figuring just 15 minutes of tonight’s rain would’ve filled my 325 gallon tank (had it not already been full). I’m thinking my rain tank might be just the thing to sweeten the pot for any potential homebuyers. As much as I’d hate to part with it, if it sells the house then its worth it. Also I can part with it knowing I’ve turned someone else on to rainwater collection.

Update: MT.Net‘s weather station says we got .83 inches of rain by midnight. Since I live close to Falls Lake, I’m guessing the lake levels will get a bump from this. Woot!
