Hunt for perfect sleep goes on

I’m up earlier than usual this morning because the sound and pressure of my teeth grinding woke me out of a sound sleep. Over the last few years, my dental hygienist has spotted the damage, first attributing it to a bad habit of chewing ice but deciding last week that I must grind my teeth in my sleep. She showed me the visibly flat edge I’ve worn into my incisors. Yikes.

The sleep technician mentioned my teeth grinding habit the morning after my sleep study, but he did so on a passing manner that mostly escaped my attention. My dental hygienist recommended two weeks in Jamaica. She may be right.

Certainly I’ve got a few … ah, reasons to be stressed! Its not every day one begins a new job in an unfamiliar environment (working downtown). Add to that the extremely daunting task of selling our house and even just getting it ready to show and you can see I’m juggling a few stress-inducing whoppers.

It would help if I took sleeping more seriously, though, and stopped staying up so late. I don’t have much choice with the ongoing moving situation: there are things that simply must be done before we can show the house and no way they will be accomplished without burning the midnight oil. However, one does not change jobs at the same time one sells one’s house every day, fortunately. Its those everyday times I need to have a more specific bedtime.

I will have to ponder this more.

  1. Get the “Sleep Number Bed” – that there TV says that it gives you perfect sleep. And the TV don’t lie, do it?
