New job update

The new job is going okay after two days. I’m getting the firehose treatment when it comes to learning the product. Everything is a bit abstract as most of the servers and data is in Germany. Not having a company laptop yet also keeps me from poking around more.

Working downtown is fun, if a bit of a challenge here at the start. So far, I’ve parked in pay lots near the building, but at $5-8 a day I’m going to avoid that from now on. There is free parking available about 5 blocks away, so I’ll save money and get 20 minutes of walking in each day.

Also, there seem to be no traffic jams downtown! You’ve got streets heading out of town in every direction so traffic disperses quickly. Its only when Capital Boulevard crosses north of the Beltline that traffic grinds to a halt. That won’t be a problem for us as we’ll be tucked inside the Beltline. It will be even better when I begin biking to and from work. It took me 7 minutes to drive to the new home from the office today and biking should be about 10 minutes, max. Woot!
