Rams Head surprise

For my first night in Annapolis I went for dinner at my usual hangout, the Rams Head Tavern. As I waited for the staff to notice me (more than five minutes – service was terrible tonight), I glanced at the wall I was leaning on and saw a plaque which read:

This brewery project is dedicated in loving memory of our 8-year-old son, Chad William Muehlhauser.

Right above these words was a brass reproduction of a picture I presume was drawn by Chad. It showed two happy people sitting at a table and holding fizzy drinks.

For the rest of the night I couldn’t get Chad and his sweet picture out of my head. I don’t know much about his short life aside from that picture, but it was enough to make me weepy all night.

Three hundred miles away are two kids whose daddy would like to hug them right now.
