Overnighting It

In case my last post didn’t covey it, I became $250 wealthier when I offered to give up my seat on my flight home tonight. I would just now be getting into Raleigh, so I figured I might as well take the money and show up in the morning.

Hotwire gave me a sweet, last-minute deal on a hotel near the airport with shuttle service: the 3-month-old Sheraton BWI. I wish I had my camera with me, because my room is beautifully decorated and has a phat LG flat-panel TV on the wall. It also has the fastest hotel internet service I think I’ve ever seen. All this for $89/night, total, thanks to Hotwire. If you ever have to stay overnight at BWI, this is the place.

The downside to this scheme is my 5 AM wakeup to make my 6:45 flight. Ugh. An early bedtime should make that easier to take.

With tonight’s overnight stay, I will create a span of fourteen straight days of living out of a suitcase. When we’re home from Orcas Island next month, I’ll have spent nineteen of the last twenty-two days living out of a suitcase. Granted, ten of those will vacation, but still that’s a lot. Are we there yet? 🙂

I also happened to run into my old Intersolv and HAHT Software boss, Rowland Archer, at BWI tonight. We had a nice chat as we passed through security. If these Annapolis trips become a habit I’ll probably see quite a bit of him.
