Now Send Some Of That Good Beer, Too

My frequent travel has earned us some free plane tickets. We’ve been considering making a trip to the Pacific Northwest for a week or so. Instead, the cool, wet weather’s brought the Pacific Northwest to us.

Kinda nice, actually. Good writing weather.

  1. I’m actually making my first trip to Portland this July for OSCON – I’ve heard good things about the area, so I’m looking forward to the trip.

  2. The Pacific Northwest usually has warm, dry, sunny weather during the summer. I spent a few days in Portland during February — not so nice then. Overcast skies, light-to-medium rain every afternoon & evening. The landing at the airport was “fun”. It’s located next to the Columbia River, and the headwind was howling off the Pacific Ocean and up the river valley. Lots of turbulence, and I swear that we got negative gees for a second. You shouldn’t have that problem in July. If your plane takes the northern route (my flight came out of Chicago), get a seat on the left side of the plane so you can see Mount Hood on the way in.
