Did I really just go over thirty hours without a post? You’d think I was busy or something.
I spent the evening as officer of the deck of the USS Hallie while Kelly went to her board meeting. The watch was mostly uneventful, except for the time my ship ran aground. I was finishing up my dinner (soup! yay!) with Hallie playing in the den. Then I heard a thump. I ran in to find her sprawled out on the underside of her step stool, its plastic edges pressing into her ribs and back.
She wasn’t too happy to be there, but settled down after a few good wails and some extended hugging. We ended the night on a good note, though, with lots of reading of her new library books. Hallie couldn’t wait for me to read them to her. Heck, I may command yet again.
The early evening was spent finally taming all the paper on my desk. Mostly taxes. Yay, again. I suppose spring had to have some downsides.
Yesterday was my first day back in the office after surgery. I toted a big bag of food with me and felt the slightest bit tender around the ribs, but other than that it was a normal day. The CEO bought pizza, which immediately made had me reasoning: “hmm…pizza is a soft diet if I chew it up enough.” Thus, my lunchtime soup became my dinner soup. I’ve gotta be creative if I hope to survive the boredom of soft foods.
There’s a reason that Hayley’s nickname around our household is “Massive Head Wound.”
