I walked out at dusk tonight to put out the recycling. Looking up I was pleased to see at least three bats merrily plucking mosquitoes out of the air.

The Museum of Life & Science in Durham last spring had a special exhibition one day on bats. Besides seeing a presentation that had bats from finger size to one with an 8 foot wingspan(!!!) they had something where the kids could build bat houses. B built one but we still need to put it up. They’re fairly simple to build, though. (B did it all by himself with the exception that I acted as the vice and held things into place.)
