There’s nothing more maddening than something that breaks only *part* of the time, and for no apparent reason. That’s the case with Apache::Gallery. I installed it over the weekend in what seemed to be a success. Come to find out that a lot of JPEGs are only being served halfway. They’re literally cut in two.
I’ve shelved it for now, too frustrated to troubleshoot it. And this was the script that was going to make my picture-posting easier? Blech.
Mark,
I’ve been using igal http://www.stanford.edu/~epop/igal/, a linux command-line gallery maker which works well for me. It basically generates html files that can be edited to look like you want, then used as templates for the rest of your site.
Igal also uses some of the command line features of imagemagick http://www.imagemagick.org/ which is also a very useful program for image galleries.
You can see a sample of an igal gallery at my smoke island website http://www.smoke-island.com/galleries/ETF03/index.html and others on links from the igal site. I like the dark gray background and black image mask, but both can be modified, as well as the size and spacing of the thumbnails, etc.
