Its been a week of hacking at MT.Net, and I’m not talking about the geek kind. A cold hit the household with ferocity last Friday, beginning with a wicked scratchy throat. This was followed by full-blown cold symptoms, including grogginess and fatigue. Somehow I manged to drive to and from Maryland through it all, though I’m not sure how.
Last night was a very tough night, as Kelly and I took turns coughing. If that wasn’t enough, I spent most of the night itchy. Then Casey Jones leans on the horn at 2 AM bringing a southbound train into Raleigh. Normally trains don’t bother me but this guy had fun with the horn as he approached Durant Road.
The good news is that things can only get better, and they are for the most part. And its Friday.
I grew up with a train track within a block. In those days they felt duty bound to blow at every road they crossed (no gates) and they went right through the middle of town out to the B.F. Goodrich tire factory every morning and evening. I actually had trouble sleeping when I went away from college. I still sink a little deeper into the pillows and feel my body relax when I hear a diesel whistle in the wee hours of the night.
Usually they only blow the bare minimum on the night runs: one blast near the street. Last night’s train driver was having fun with the horn.
