Election Recap

The elections were yesterday. Saying no one cared would be close to accurate: less than five percent of voters bothered to vote. When Kelly and I voted at 8:30 yesterday morning, a mere 39 people had been there before.

This just goes to show that MT.Net needs more readers, of course. Because y’all voted, didn’t you? You did, right?

Meeker wins reelection. Kekas, Stephenson and Craven take seats on the Council. Other members won their seats back in July when no one chose to run against them. It seems to me that voter apathy is at an all-time high.

Perhaps I’ll reconsider toying with the thought of running for office some day. It doesn’t look like anyone but me would care.

  1. Yes, it was a real election. The Raleigh races are officially nonpartisan, so we don’t have primaries for city races.

    I didn’t know that Durham’s was a primary, though.

  2. So, wait. For Wake County this was an actual election? Not a primary? (Which I assume was back in July based on your comment.) In Durham county it wasn’t that way. It was just a primary (I did vote, though) and the real election is in November.

That’s weird to have a real election in October. Elections are supposed to be in November!

  3. I went out to the polling place in Fuquay after work. I was #90 on the day. There was only one race on my ballot – Wake School Board, District 2. I went to vote against the fundie, but unfortunately he won handily in a 4-way race. Booooo.
