Travis and I got out this afternoon for a tandem bike ride along the Middle Crabtree Trail greenway.
It was teh awesome! A long boardwalk through wetlands, followed by a nice smooth stretch through woods, passing under two sets of train tracks and Capital Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue! Travis and I went as far as the CSX tracks northwest of Atlantic Avenue before turning back because we ran out of time. In that stretch, though, we traveled some impressive boardwalks in a relaxing, woodsy setting. In twenty minutes we made it from home almost to Wake Forest Road.
I look forward to finding time to continue even further west on this gem of a greenway!
Heh. Was that you with the ‘trail-a-bike’? I think Nathan and I saw you take a break when we were taking our bikes off the car.
We tried that part of the trail in the fall, but were thwarted by the closed section… Saw your recent post about the trail opening back up and decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather.
Those hills are good practice for Nate’s new bike-handling skills. We rode from the lot on Atlantic back to Raleigh Blvd, then all the way back to the west end of the trail, then back to Raleigh Blvd end before returning to the car. We did about 7.5mi averaging 8-ish MPH. Not bad for a 6-year-old. A pleasant day all-around.
That was you? Awesome! Travis and I had to hightail it back home because we needed to be back when Hallie came home. Otherwise I would’ve rode over and said hello.
Sounds like you had a great ride! We’re all going back tomorrow morning. And next time we’ll say hi!
