Long Farking Day

I’m back at the hotel after a very long day at the Ohio Linux Fest. It’s a small trade show, if you could call it a trade show, but I swear I’ve never worked harder at a trade show in my life. I was passing out T-shirts and hats so fast that hours had gone by before I could even get the demo up and running. I was so beat when the show was over that I didn’t dare nap more than 20 minutes or I knew I would be out for 10 hours.

At the “after party” sponsored by Google, I hung out a bit with Drew Curtis of Fark, who was there with Mike (Fark’s sysadmin) and Mike’s wife, Andrea. The stories they could tell would take up hours, I’m sure. I told them if they ever had reason to visit Raleigh that I’d set up a Fark party for them. They seem to be very cool people. Gotta get TotalFark membership someday.

It’s 10:35 now and all those hours on my feet have caught up with me. We’re aiming to hit the road at 8:00 tomorrow for the 9 hour drive back to Raleigh. Tanner won’t be quite so lucky as the rest of us, as he’s hitching a ride in the plane belonging to Kevin Otte’s dad. We’ll miss him as we enjoy six more hours of travel than he does. Note to self: find time to finish my flying lessons.

Its been a long, work-filled weekend and its not even over yet.
