1. Yes, it is different. Can’t wait to see what the mid east looks like (or the world) when we cut and run from there!!

Maybe the republicans will wake up and actually be conservative again (like 1994). Gov’t has grown, budgets have grown (huge), and power has grown.

  2. If you find that you’ve dug yourself into a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.

Voters everywhere have taken the Republicans’ shovels away.

  3. It’s simple, Todd. The Democrats’ plan for Iraq is to make Bush explain what the hell we’re doing there and when the hell we’re getting out. In short, everything the rubber-stamp Republican Congress tried their damndest not to do.

Iraq is Bush’s baby and it will always be Bush’s baby. He owns it, it will define his presidency, and now that there’s a new sheriff in town (Congress, not Donnie Harrison, whom I’m glad won, but that’s another story) Bush will have to explain what he’s going to do about it.

You can only say “stay the course” for so long before the people wake up and demand to know what that course is.

    Back to you!

  4. Actually, that wasn’t me making those comments, but Leonard does have a point. Iraq is Bush’s baby, and I wouldn’t disagree with that. I think Leonards point is that now the Democrats will actually be held accountable for an alternative route. It’s one thing to say that things are broken (thats the easy part). The difficult part is to actually provide some real ideas. This is what I am interested in hearing…actual, real ideas.

Maybe we should add more special forces into the mix and less of the grunts. Maybe we should consider segregating the country into three separate nations based on religious and ethnic lines. At least “cut and run” is an idea. Albeit not a good one, but it’s an idea. Are you seeing our point here?

  5. The first one who should be held accountable is George W. Bush. A Democratic Congress will hold Bush accountable for Iraq the same way the American voting public held Republicans accountable for Iraq.

As I said before, “stay the course” is not an idea nor a plan. I think you’ll see some better courses of action in the coming months (starting with Rummy’s sacking today).

(Leonard is Todd Leonard, btw. Todd, meet Todd!)

  6. Todd….very good to meet you. I see that you and I agree that our friend mt is a little too far to the left. Looks like us “red staters” will need to stick together in the future. Feel free to drop by the Margarita Lounge when you have a minute…I think there is a link on the blogroll.

  7. Good to meet you, too. I will have to drop by the Margarita Lounge sometime.

I went to highschool with mt’s brother Jeff. We did some stupid stuff together. I read both of their blogs (I wish Jeff would post more!!). Both are good guys. MT is too left for me, but he is obviously intelligent and I like to read how the “other side” thinks. Plus, he taught me how to use html!!
