Raleigh is a radio desert compared to California. One highlight of my trip was tuning into KCRW, a Santa Monica public radio station with a translator covering Palm Springs on 89.3. Its been a long time since radio reached out and grabbed me. KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic had that effect. I was happily grooving on the way back to the airport until the signal from Palm Springs faded.
Fortunately for me (and you), KCRW has a honkin’ Shoutcast stream. Good times.
KCRW also has quite a few podcasts, both on its site and in the iTunes music store. I’ve been digging on Harry Shearer’s “le Show” from KCRW on my podcast list for several months now.

KCRW is out of Santa Monica not Santa Barbara … as Harry Shearer says on “Le Show” … “Santa Monica … home of the homeless” … I wish we could have hooked you up with freqs for your entire trip back … you would have only lost the signal around Banning and then picked it up about 10 miles later … next time.
