I went to Crazy Fire for lunch Friday, the first time in a long while. I handed my bowl of food to the cook working the grill and continued a conversation with my coworker.
In a few minutes, my lunch was ready. The cook, a large Latino, brought me my lunch and waited to hear what type of rice I preferred.
“White,” I said.
He stared at me blankly. Too much noise in the restaurant, I thought. Time for a different tack.
“Blanco,” I told him.
“Ah,” he replied, nodding as he went over to the rice.
When he returned, he leaned forward. “You speak excellent Spanish,” he said.
I burst out laughing. One word equals excellent Spanish!? I must speak excellent Latin, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian, too.
After confessing to my poor Spanish, I couldn’t help tipping the guy some dineros.
I’m a sucker for a compliment.
Deep down you tipped him out of “White Man’s Guilt” … don’t worry, I do it all the time out here.

i don’t know if you read this…but Texas recently became the 4th official United State to no longer have a white majority of citizens…Texas has joined New Mexico, California and Hawaii as the only states to have a (get this) “Minority Majority…” according to CNN.com. the trend is not slowing down with 6 more states (mississippi, alabama, louisiana, arizona, florida and arkansas)having minorities constitute more than 40% of the state’s official population. Of course the number of minorities is actually much higher with illegals. In each state the hispanic population is listed as the largest except for hawaii, where asian-americans are the majority and missippi where african-americans are close to becoming the majoority.
I have 2 comments:
1) this goes to reinforce my belief that states that border canada (with the exception of Washington) SUCK to live in and provide us with a nice Canada bufffer zone.
2) I am TIRED OF BEIN’ HASSLED BY DA MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
