By now you’ve probably heard how The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart ripped Crossfire hosts Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala during his appearance this past week. Stewart was there to hawk his book but instead unloaded on the two hosts for hosting a fraud of a show.
This link which discusses why The Daily Show runs rings around the other news programs when it comes to credibility.
If you haven’t seen the show, download the Torrent in the first link above and watch. It’s electric.
The Daily Show is the best show on television.

The Daily Show ROCKS!!! … Monday night’s segment on the curse of the Bambino killed me … other political shows that rock are Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO on Friday night and The Al Frankin Show over on Sundance every week night at 11:30pm … my DVR is so backlogged with Al Franken shows but I can’t miss any of them since they’re so informative.
Matt
Thanks for being one of the tens of people who watch my show!
Jon Stewart rules.
Ya know, for all the “ripping” Jon did, he came off as a arrogant, self-important a-hole.
He basically said “your show is bad but I won’t state why it’s bad it’s just bad”
I like the Daily show but I really feel that many people think it’s “legit” news. It’s great for what it is, though.

The sad thing is, you get more legit news on The Daily Show, in the form of comedy, than you do on something like Crossfire, which markets itself as informative. Wow that was a lot of commas.
My favorite skit from that show was about news shows like Crossfire. The sketch was about news stations reporting what one side says 50% of the time, and reporting what the other side says 50% of the time, and never taking the time to do any investigative reporting at all. Crossfire (although I watch it religously) does just that- it gives both sides equal time to spout their same party line bumper stickers, but you never really get new information. Also, an undecided person watching wouldn’t know what to think- they know whatever issue is being discussed is just being spun one way and then the other.
Oh, and a recent study showed that Daily Show viewers were more informed about political issues and politicians than viewers of The O’Reilly Factor. Fun, huh?
Watch it again, Scott, and you’ll see he did say why it is bad. He called it partisan hackery. He called it theatre pretending to be debate.
He was also pissed that he was walking into an ambush. The hosts were there to hammer him on his cupcake questions – it is obvious by the clips and questions they had prepared. I don’t blame him at all for not wanting to play along. I’d be defensive, too.
This page is a great discussion of the Daily Show’s value, despite it being “fake news.” Check it out, yo.
I’m sorry but “Partisan hackery” doesn’t describe why something is bad. It’s “partisan rhetoric”. Many people, such as Jon Stewart and myself even, lament about the way political discussions are handled in the mainstream media but we do nothing about it. Jon didn’t have any solutions, nor do I but I don’t rant about it either, nor does anyone else including that article you posted. We all know it sucks but I’ll bet they were saying that 30 years ago. To criticize is human.
Jon went on CNN to promote his book and he took the opportunity to place himself on a self-righteous pedestal.
I know there are a lot of Jon Stewart fans out there but he is getting a little full of himself. Maybe rightfully so…
