Trying To Score Some Good Buds

After fifteen years of trusty service, my AIWA earbuds are being retired. They’ve served me well, providing the best sound quality I’ve heard for earbuds. The AIWAs excel at the lower frequencies, which is a problem for for earbuds. As a result, most music sounds tinny and dull in ordinary ‘buds.

So, what else is out there? Does anyone have good things to say about their brand of earbuds? I’m looking for good sound quality without the bulkiness of real headphones. Share your experience, brother!

UPDATE: A CNET review of earbuds.

  1. Dude, was just reading the October issue of Men’s Journal and they have a sidebar called “These Buds for You” … looks like you want to get the Ultimate Ear UE-5c (ultimateears.com) for $550 (yikes!) … the Shure E3c (shure.com) for $180 or the Sony MDR-EX71SL (sonystyle.com) for $50 … you can check the very short article out at a local newstand on page 124.
