One last thing before I turn in. Can somebody tell me why I’m not a kewl kid if I don’t have a Gmail account?

It isn’t so much that you’re not a “kewl kid”. That appearance is simply the pseudo-exclusivity of it. Most of the people who don’t have an account, but want one, simply haven’t looked very hard. If you want one, you’re welcome to it. I have 6 invites right now.
As far as why it is a really useful tool…
It is, in my opinion, the best webmail app bar none. I have moved all my mailing list traffic too it. It’s fast, flexible, and I love the concept of no real folders. Things are simply labeled and sorted by filtering. Oh, and all the hubbub about target ads is overblown. All e-mail is public unless encrypted and the ads are usually accurate (like all of Google’s ads) and is very unobtrusive…
