Thanks to MT.Net reader #7 Mike B., I can now present you with the fifty worst songs ever. Topping the list is that 80’s standard “We Built This City” By Jefferson Starship.
Now, I have a confession to make. I actually had that stupid song in my head when I was on the way to work earlier this week. I had to hear it again. Once I heard it, my strange craving for it disappeared again.
I try not to listen too hard when I do hear it, because the lyrics are truly, truly bad. But the line “Marconi plays the mamba” sticks in my head, in spite of everything.
Sometimes bad songs say so much, to paraphrase Elton John (who has written his share of clunkers, too).
Someone’s always playing corporation games
Who cares they’re always changing corporation names
We just want to dance here, someone stole the stage
They call us irresponsible, write us off the page
While I won’t argue that “We Built This City” is a paragon of music, I will argue that there are plenty of songs worse than it. Who are these people anyway, that purport to pick the “worst” songs for everyone? That’s like saying “one size fits all”. Ha!
One man’s tripe is another man’s dinner.
Marconi is big sux. Rulez is Nikola Tesla.
I guess that song would have sucked even more with “Tesla lights his neighbors on fire” in there somewhere. Knee deep in hoopla indeed.
