ChokePack

I’m not happy with my Wolfpack right now. It used to be the mantra was “find a way to win.” Well, that’s been replaced with “find a way to lose.” A twenty point lead evaporates against Maryland in the ACC Tournament. An eleven point lead disappears with 3:30 to go against Vanderbilt today.

N.C. State gave the game away in both cases. What will it take to start putting teams away for good?

  1. I think the bad calls at the end gave the game away not the Pack itself.

  2. You can’t excuse fouling three-point shooters twice at the end of the game. That was eight free points to put Vandy right back into the game. True, Melvin’s intention foul was a bad call, but by then it was too late, anyway.

There will always be bad calls. That you can’t control. What you can control is keeping your cool and not making stupid mistakes. Too often the Pack’s games have been theirs to lose. And too often, that’s just what they do.

I’d like to see the Pack play to win and not to not lose. There is a difference.

  3. while the intentional foul was a horrible call, and the last foul from Hodge was very questionable, you’re right… We turned the ball over to give them the break away, we got burned on a play we run routinely in practice, etc. etc..

All this and we still had a chance to tie the game at the end. The worst part is not getting a good shot off before time ran out. That to me is inexcusable.

  4. one of the age-old beefs with Herb: using timeouts. Although in this case, it wasn’t really his fault. Atsur burned our last two timeouts on traps. If we would’ve had a timeout in the last few seconds, we could’ve set up a play and perhaps won.

Oh well. It wasn’t a bad season, actually. Lots to look forward to next year.
