Well, I’ve now got my DTA310 answering calls from Asterisk! Sounds works well, too, once the firewall rules were adjusted on the client. 🙂 The volume controls on the client also need to be tweaked a bit.
The only hurdle remaining is to get the DTA310 to properly authenticate to Asterisk for INVITE requests. If I can do that, I can dial out from the DTA310, meaning I can make all calls to and from the Internet using SIP. Way cool.
This last hurdle promises to be the hardest, since I don’t have enough of a grasp of the SIP protocol to do effective troubleshooting. I might take the easy way out and grab the latest Asterisk code from cvs, just to see if some pook schmuck has already solved this problem.
Mark,
I think I’ve found a way to get to the advanced settings on the latest and greatest DTA-310 firmware from Packet8. I’m hoping you can simply bypass the advanced config password screen and go directly to the options screens. Try just replacing index.htm with sipset.htm or codecset.htm in the URL.. This is based on an examination of their firmware load, but hasn’t been verified that it works.
Please post your results!
I have one unlocked DTA310 (for which this test would do no good), and one DTA310 with older, nonrestricted firmware. Running this test on either one would not prove anything.
I was able to determine that SIP settings could be retained over a firmware upgrade. In other words, you can flash back to older, nonrestricted firmware, set SIP up, and then flash to the newer firmware to use it. You won’t be able to change settings without downgrading, but it does work.
I may flash my nonrestricted DTA to the locked version to try it, but IIRC, I tried this solution already but had no luck.
I have a couple of DTA310s around with older firmware. that I can access. I have tried to use them with both FWD and Nikotel with no luck, can you shed any light? telefono@SpamgarDcablemas.com
