1. I forgot to add the Toyota Matrix to my list. Kudos to Mike Barnard for pointing out my mistake. 🙂

  2. Mark, somehow I think a hybrid just suits you well. The Civic hybrids are nice but take a good look at the Toy as well. I can really picture you in one of these and before you purchase a Mercedes anything talk to Justin and my friend Jill. – your nextcube neighbor.

  3. Here are a few items to think about if you’re considering a hybrid car:

First, what is the estimated life of the batteries? The manufacturer won’t be able to give you a definite lifespan because they don’t know how long the batteries will hold up (lots of variables involved in this calculation).

Second, what is the replacement cost of the batteries? They ain’t gonna be cheap, I can tell you that.

Third, will the car run on the gasoline engine only if the electric engine goes dead (because the batteries won’t hold a charge)? The rational part of my mind says “Yes – it would be stupid if the car didn’t.” The cynical part of my mind says “I won’t put it past the manufacturer do something stupid like this.”
