Every kid needs a nickname

Now that my new neice Hadley is here, I feel the need to provide her with an appropriate nickname. Jeff proclaimed my daughter “Hallie Mac,” so I feel its only fair.

There could easily be some name confusion between Hadley and Hallie. After all, the two names would sound identical if not for the “d” in Hadley. Thus, her official Uncle Mark nickname will be “D.”

  1. Well….that is an interesting choice but none too original. The single consonant nickname jumped the shark sometime in 99 shortly after the “G” badge, way overused in rap videos, and the appearance of Snoop Dog in Girls Gone Wild. While its re-emergence post 2010 is all but guaranteed its too early to recycle.

I’m thinking a post-modern\cyber nickname … something a little “Matrix-ish” yet keeping the focus on the distinct “D” name difference. Therefore, I officially dub Hallie’s new nickname of “No-D”. This can be mutated (like any good nickname) to Nod, N-Od, and the letters N-O-D.

  2. If Hadley doesn’t rank a full “D,” then how about “D-lite?”
