Dogmania

We decided after meeting him that Rocket was our dog. He was delivered Saturday afternoon following Travis’s birthday party.

Rocket (or “Rocky” as I like to call him) is a super-sweet dog. He’s a two year old black Lab, and a rescue dog as I mentioned before. He’s playful, strong as hell, loves exercise but is also quite content to snooze on the floor.
Kelly’s been taking him on afternoon runs and reports that he’s very well behaved around other people and dogs.

He is also quite attached to his humans and desperate to please them. He greets us with a friendly lick to the face and full-body hugs. And he cries when he gets put in his crate when we leave. Boy does he complain! This boy’s got a bark that will send shivers down your spine!

We’re still getting used to his mild snoring and snuffling at night, but on all accounts he’s a wonderful addition to our family!

Life in the big city

I was almost done with a brisk walk up and down Fayetteville Street when I walked past the corner CVS. Some guy was sitting on the ground outside the store as a cop was pulling a pack of pilfered candy bars out of the guy’s hoodie pocket. He was being cuffed just as a patrol car was pulling up.

And people wonder why there isn’t more retail downtown. At least that guy won’t be spending a freezing night on the streets.

Driver who hit Jason Ray indicted

The driver who struck and killed UNC student Jason Ray has been indicted by a New Jersey jury for causing death while driving without a license. Armen Hovsepian initially claimed to be a passenger in the SUV driven by his father but a tip came in that placed him behind the wheel. Hovsepian could face up to five years in prison if convicted.

MT.Net wrote many times before about Jason Ray due to the conversations my wife Kelly had with him shortly before he passed away. Ray performed as the UNC mascot Rameses for three years and was expected to perform at a charity event Kelly was organizing.
