again, I don't see them angling the story that way...I think you're making it out to be more than it is.

Also, since you're a news and computer geek why aren't you just reading it online instead of paying for it? You could always print out the articles to read with your morning coffee...

No, the real story here is that NCSU got Mary Easley for $90k in the first place. That was a heck of a deal.

Her new salary is a nice bump, sure, but still not nearly what she could earn in private practice. And if she's got new responsibilities then where's the beef?

This is being played as an unwise use of tax dollars and I don't necessarily see it that way. Its misleading, plain and simple.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on the article. Dude, they start off pointing out that she got a raise, she has new responsibilities and that its a position change.

They then talk to some critics and get their opinion of the situation. Finally, they wrap it up by getting the chancellors take, her take and gov easley's take. They also talk about the lure of the private sector and the big money.

Oh, and they managed to get a bit of sexism claims in there. All in all, I believe they just did their job on this one in the wake of her trips abroad. I didn't find it misleading at all.

And I hate the friggin' N&O and have not had a subscription for years. Put your money where your mouth is, Nitz! and bring your shoes...

By contrast read the Richmond paper. All the news that has been written by someone else. I wouldn't be surprised if they had folks in India writing the copy from press releases and internet news sources...
