Bus stops and the economy

I went for another pre-dawn walk today, passing a crowd of neighborhood high-schoolers waiting for the bus when a thought occurred to me: where are these kids going to find jobs?

Why was this even a question? I don’t know why I should be concerned but I am. There was never any question for me that I would find good employment but I could not help but feel pessimistic about these kids’ opportunities.

If I was a kid on the verge of entering this job market, my choices would be frighteningly few indeed. I feel for them.

  1. I have been having the same kinds of thoughts. I think it comes from the process of purchasing a new house. You do all this mutual assessment with the finance company along with the in family discussions.

There are times when the world seems like a comfortable playground slide. You know where it is going and what will happen at the bottom. There are times. like now, where it feels like a highway in a storm. You know your path and where you are going; but, what about those poor folks who haven’t had their neighborhoods plowed yet.
