Getting high with ghost planes

When the CIA’s ghost planes aren’t ferrying innocent men like German citizen Khaled El-Masri to faraway places to be tortured, they’re apparently ferrying cocaine into the United States as the recent crash in Mexico’s Yucatan of a cocaine-filled, Guantanamo-connected jet (tail # N987SA) seems to suggest.

It’s the same model the CIA used during the Iran-Contra follies of the 1980s, as documented in the book by former covert agent Terry Reed, Compromised: Clinton, Bush and the CIA. Back then, guns went in and cocaine went out. Now the Agency might not be bothering with the gun part.

As for Khaled El-Masri, yesterday the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear El-Masri’s suit against the government for his unlawful kidnapping and torture (euphemistically known as “extraordinary rendition,” aka. “unlawful rendition”) at the hands of American agents. I seem to remember our federal government having at least three branches of government. Has anyone seen the judicial one?

Meanwhile, torture planes continue to operate at RDU and at Johnston County Airport. N.C. Stop Torture Now is on the case and could use your help.

  1. But, the great and powerful Pelosi says we should ignore the man behind the curtain.
